I entered the Absa Cape Epic...
I've done the full Ironman and really experienced a true appreciation for the body&mind's resilience, persistence and patience. Now to do that and get up and do it again the next day - that is a challenge and rare opportunity. The Absa Cape Epic provides such a chance, that and doing it in a team, with supporters in the scenic Cape, having a platform to raise awareness and funding for the charity Lambano. I entered for the privilege to experience that.

Best Results:
Breaking both hands in a cycling fall Jan 2016, slowly getting better and entering the Epic before I went out on a mtb again. MTBing to me is a fun, competitive, supporting sport where physical&mental levels are challenged and friendships flourish.

Lambano Sanctuary Homes and Hospice

Why Riding: In 2001 Lambano identified a great need for a family-based home for HIV/AIDS babies in South Africa. I became involved as a student, was inspired and continued supporting this fruitful sanctuary. Today Lambano is a permanent home to 28 orphaned or abandoned children who are HIV+ and are also a pediatric Medical Step Down Facility/Hospice consisting of 16 beds which takes in children from government hospitals in Gauteng.
